What's going on with Microsoft? (And why it matters)
Have you heard? In August 2021, Microsoft announced a raft of changes to its pricing and terms. If your business subscribes to Office 365 or Microsoft 365, it's time to pay attention.
Some of the most important changes are:
- The prices for
all M365 products (except the most-expensive E5 package) are going up. Expected increases range from 9% to 25%.
- Starting from July 1, monthly subscribers will pay an additional 20% premium.
- The Open Licence programme, which allowed organisations to purchase user licences at a volume discount, has been retired.
- New restrictions will be introduced, reducing the cancellation period to 72 hours and removing the ability for annual subscribers to downscale their user base.

Microsoft's prices are going up. On March 1, 2022, the tech giant is expected to hike Office 365 and Microsoft 365 subscription rates by an average of 13%. Then, from July 1, 2022, monthly subscribers will have to pay an additional 20% premium.
